Membership Requirements 

  1. Maintain a 3.6 GPA - Members must maintain the required GPA as well as continue to reflect the high standards of scholarship, leadership, service and character that were used as a basis for selection.

  2. Attend Meetings - Meetings will be held the first Monday of each month immediately after school in the Laney Library. Members will be notified through the school bulletin, the NHS website, and via Remind if the date and time changes due to school conflicts. You will receive a half point for each meeting you attend. Members must sign in as they enter the library; this will be the check for attendance.  Members may NOT miss more than three meetings. If this does occur, members must make up the points by participating in extra service projects (these will be specifically assigned).

  3. Perform Individual Service Project (min. of 2 hours) - Members must complete at least one individual service project, and  up to 6 total points may be awarded. The Individual Project must be approved before a member proceeds with its implementation. Thus, the Individual Project Form must be filled out and submitted to Mrs. Kokoski or Ms. Woodbury prior to the event. 

  4. Participate in at least two NHS Sponsored GROUP Service Projects (min. of 4 total hours) - Points are awarded based upon the project. Group projects will be planned throughout the school year. Information about group projects will be given at NHS meetings on the first Monday of each month and will be constantly updated via Remind.

  5. Peer Tutoring (at least 5 Hours) - Tutoring will be arranged and approved by Mrs. Kokoski, Ms. Woodbury, and Dru Loman. Updates for opportunities will be shared at meetings and through weekly Remind notices.

  6. Pay National Honor Society dues - Dues of $15 must be paid to Ms. Woodbury by December 5, 2016.

  7. Participate in the Spring Induction Ceremony - This generally occurs one evening in early May.

  8. Wearing a Collar for Graduation - In order to earn a collar, students must fulfill all minimum requirements and earn at least 20 points.
